The British Wheel of Yoga is a registered charity and is the largest yoga organisation in Great Britain, running for over 40 years.
This is the official website of the South Region which consists of Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
Features of this website include:
- What's On - Details of I.S.T. days, seminars and other events in and around our region.
- Yoga Classes by County - Details of regular Yoga classes and courses (including teacher details) in the Berks, Bucks, Hants (Incl. I of W), and Oxon.
- Yoga Classes by Teacher Surname - Same details as above, sorted by teacher's surname.
- An enhanced BWY South Website membership scheme which enables all yoga teachers to maintain their own Yoga Class records and What's On records online.
- A map of British Wheel of Yoga Regions with county and regional information.
- Get included - If you would like to be included in these lists free of charge, register online so that you can add your own Yoga Class details and What's On details.

Liberty Bollen has decided to pass on the role of BWY SOUTH Website Administrator. Liberty has thoroughly enjoyed responding to all of your enquiries and maintaining the BWY South Website - a valuable Yoga directory in the South region.

Previously Registered?
If you have registered before April 2006, you can use your existing membership and Yoga Class details.
To gain access to your existing membership records, invent a password with 6 to 12 alphabetic characters; no spaces or numbers (e.g kundalini).
Then send Tim an email supplying Tim with your full name and your chosen password.
Tim will update your password online and provide you with your member ID. Then you can login to maintain your own Yoga Class records and What's On records online.
If you need to make changes to your member record (name, address, telephone, email address, qualifications, special classes, comments) contact Tim. |

Inflexible Old System
Before April 2006 this website had an inflexible registration system.
Each time the teacher wanted to update information about new classes, the teacher would re-register.
Sometimes this resulted in unnecessary and confusing multiple member records per teacher.
Thank you to Bridget, Michael, Barry and Fidelma for highlighting this inflexibility.
Another infexibility was that a teacher living in Berks and teaching in Bucks would only get their class details displayed under Berks in the Yoga Classes by County listing.

Migrating from the old system to the new system
Because the new BWY South website membership scheme is more flexible, migrating from the old system to the new system can be a little confusing.
For example some details (e.g address) from the old (before April 2006) registration form were held with the Member record and with the first Yoga Class record.
A selection of these details appear in the county listing and in the surname listing.
Under the new flexible scheme you can (if you wish) hide your home address, but display the class venue address.

New Flexible System
In the new BWY South website membership scheme a teacher only needs to complete the registration form once.
Then the website member can login and maintain (add, update, delete) their own Yoga Class records and What's On records.
A website member can display address, contact information and description specific to each Yoga Class.
Each Yoga Class record form now requires a valid county (selected from the county drop-down list) so that Yoga Classes can be displayed by county.
In the new system, a teacher living in Berks and teaching in Bucks and Berks can get their Berks class details displayed under Berks and their
Bucks class details displayed under Bucks in the Yoga Classes by County listing.

Censorship and Policing
A meeting was held with the Regional Officer to discuss this new website membership scheme.
It was agreed that new records can be displayed on this website without waiting for approval from the administrator.
This means there is an opportunity to abuse the system. If anyone sees unsavoury or indecent information appearing in the Whats On list or
in the Yoga Class list, please contact Tim and Elif who both
have the facility to make those records disappear from the online lists.
